The 2nd International Scientific Conference titled “The Turkic World: Common Historical and Cultural Values, Contemporary Realities, and a Look into the Future,” dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Glorious Victory, was held at the History Department of Baku State University (BSU).

BSU Vice-Rector Huseyn Mammadov highlighted the significance of the Victory in Karabakh and its role in strengthening the unity of the Turkic world. He emphasized the importance of academic research in preserving shared historical and cultural values and continuing the legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Professor Anar Iskandarov, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee and Head of the Department of Source Studies, Historiography, and Methodology at BSU, underscored the importance of preserving the unity and historical roots of the pan-Turkic family. He stated that Azerbaijan, having entered a new stage of development, has become a center of the Turkic world, with the revived Karabakh serving as a strategic focal point of this unity.

Academician Nizami Jafarov, Head of the Department of General Linguistics at BSU, spoke about the pedagogical significance of the shared historical and cultural values of the Turkic world. He remarked that the Turkic world has today found an answer to the question of its identity and achieved long-sought unity.

The conference also featured speeches by Ibrahim Ethem Atnur, Vice-Rector of the Azerbaijan National Defense University; Farhad Guliyev, Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan; members of the Milli Majlis; Zhala Aliyeva, Professor of the Department of Turkic Philology at BSU; and Nagif Hamzayev, Lecturer at the Department of Source Studies, Historiography, and Methodology.

The conference will continue with a plenary session and nine thematic sections.
