A joint field session of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences  (ANAS) and Academic Council of Baku State University was held in the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory. Rector of BSU, academician Abel Maharramov delivered a presentation on "Research conducted in Azerbaijan in the field of nanotechnology, results and prospects".

Academician said that, currently successful research is underway aimed at obtaining, stabilizing, studying and applying nanostructures. Presidium adopted a resolution according to which the report submitted by academician Abel Maharramov was approved; considering the importance of nanotechnology, which is an innovative field of science, it was considered expedient to continue the multidisciplinary research that is being conducted in this field. Also to coordinate the research conducted in the country in the field of nanomaterials, and to identify the current state of scientific research, it was decided to create a working group to develop joint mega-project in priority areas by specialists of ANAS, BSU and structures engaged in research in this field.

Coordination Council will work under the leadership of Academician Abel Maharramov.
