Academician Fikret Aliyev makes presentation at webinar as part of SOMPATY project
A scientific webinar was held at Baku State University (BSU) as part of the project entitled «HORIZON 2020» SOMPATY - Spectral Optimization: From Mathematics to Physics and Advanced Technology. Employees of the Research Institute of Applied Mathematics at BSU and the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the university are partners in this project.
The webinar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Carsten Trunk, the Technical University of Ilmenau (Germany).
Academician Fikret Aliyev, the Director of the BSU Research Institute of Applied Mathematics, Project Coordinator for Azerbaijan made presentation entitled “Some mathematical problems and their solution for the problem of oscillatory systems with liquid dampers”.
The webinar was also attended by Jürgen PRESTIN, professor at the University of Lübeck, Davron Matrasulov, Professor at the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent and Pavel Exner, Professor at the Doppler Institute for Mathematical Physics and Applied Mathematics in Prague.
Staff exchanges and collaborative research and training between universities and research organisations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Czech Republic, Germany, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan is the goal of the EU-funded SOMPATY project. It will boost research ties between Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS was established at the end of 1991, in the wake of the end of the USSR). The research institutes participating in this project boast a strong research focus on spectral optimisation and its applications in nano-technology, life sciences, and quantum mechanics. Between 2020 and 2024, four project events (one per year) have been scheduled. Each includes a workshop, summer school, open access proceedings and public outreach activities.
