“Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev Auditorium” Opens at BSU
The “Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev Auditorium” has been opened at the Faculty of Chemistry of Baku State University (BSU) to mark the 120th anniversary of the birth of the world-renowned scientist and academician Yusif Mammadaliyev.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev described Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev as one of the towering figures of Azerbaijani science. He emphasized that the academician’s life and work left a lasting mark on the history of science and education in Azerbaijan and at BSU in particular. The Rector noted that the opening of a special auditorium dedicated to the memory of this outstanding scientist and educator is both a great honor for BSU and a tribute to his rich scientific legacy, expressing confidence that the auditorium will contribute significantly to the development of chemical science and education at the university.
Arif Gashimov, Director General of the Institute of Physics, highlighted that Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev’s legacy represents an important chapter in the country’s scientific history and praised the initiative as a meaningful contribution to the advancement of Azerbaijani science and education.
Husnu Kapu, Rector of the Caucasus University of Kars (Türkiye), noted that Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev made invaluable contributions not only to Azerbaijani science, but also to the wider Turkic world and global scientific thought. He emphasized that the path forged by the eminent scholar serves as a guiding light for scientists across the Turkic world.
The “Academician Yusif Mammadaliyev Auditorium” features a bust of the distinguished scientist, photographs reflecting his scientific legacy, manuscripts, books—particularly on petrochemistry—and visual materials illustrating key areas of his research.
