In recent years, the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Baku State University (BSU) has seen a significant rise in high-achieving students. The number of admitted students with scores above 600 has increased notably. In the 2024/2025 academic year, 78 students were admitted with scores exceeding 600, including 13 who scored over 650. By comparison, in the 2023/2024 academic year, 20 students were admitted with scores above 600, two of whom surpassed 650.

Students of the faculty have demonstrated outstanding performance in both international and national Olympiads. At the World Mathematical Olympiad, Vugar Guliyev secured 1st place, while Amil Dzhabiev earned 3rd place. In the Republican Olympiad in Mathematics, faculty students achieved remarkable results: one student won 1st place, two took 2nd place, three secured 3rd place, and six received incentive diplomas. Additionally, two presidential scholarship holders are currently studying at the faculty.

Research at the faculty continues to thrive. Over the past five years, faculty members have published 123 articles in the Web of Science database. In 2024 alone, 163 scientific articles were published, including 60 in international journals and 103 in local scientific publications.

Academic activities at the faculty have also expanded. In 2024, the faculty organized 114 scientific seminars, four master classes, 76 open classes, and four scientific seminars within the Student Scientific Society. Additionally, two republican scientific conferences were held during the year.

The faculty boasts a distinguished academic staff of 84 professors and lecturers, including two corresponding members of ANAS, 21 doctors of science, 53 doctors of philosophy, 18 professors, and 40 associate professors.

These achievements reflect the faculty’s commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and student success.
