Acting rector Firudin Gurbanov meets with Korean Ambassador Kim Tong Op
Acting rector of Baku State University University Firudin Gurbanov met with Korean Ambassador Kim Tong Op, on 06 February 2019.
F,Gurbanov noted, with regard to the relations between the two countries, that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev bilateral relations have been developing in various fields, including in the science and education area.
F. Gurbanov stressed that BSU is leading scientific, educational, innovation and cultural centre of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which makes a significant contribution to the scientific researchs and trains highly qualified professionels.He said that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order on conducting the 100th anniversary of BSU and the commemorative events would be held at the international level with support of UNESCO, ISESCO and other international organizations.
Firudin Gurbanov highlited that since the establishment of the Department of Korean Studies in the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Baku State University in 2017 more than 60 students graduated from this department in the last 10 years and he expressed his appreciation for the support of the Korean Government.
He also explained that BSU had continued to cooperate with Korea, such as holding 'Korean Speech Contest', concluding MOU with Korean universities, and establishing King Sejong Institute in the last year.
Ambassador Kim emphasized that mutual understanding between the two peoples was essential for the long-term development of bilateral relations, especially the importance of exchanges among young people such as students.
Ambassador Kim also asked for continued interest and support from the BSU in order to facilitate the smooth operation of King Sejong Institute, which was opened in BSU in the latter half of last year.
