Ambassador of China Visits BSU
Ambassador Guo Min, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Representative of the People's Republic of China to Azerbaijan, paid a visit to Baku State University (BSU) on June 9th.
In his welcoming address, Rector Elchin Babayev expressed BSU's keen interest in fostering connections with Chinese universities. The rector highlighted his ongoing concern for the welfare and education of Chinese students, who actively participate in the social and cultural aspects of BSU's life. Some of them have even become proficient in speaking Azerbaijani.
BSU is home to the Confucius Institute, which plays a vital role in promoting Chinese language and culture studies in Azerbaijan.
Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized that although BSU has established partnerships with several Chinese universities, these efforts are insufficient. He stated that BSU aims to attract more Chinese students and forge relations with Chinese universities to collaborate on scientific research projects and establish double or triple degree programs.
Ambassador Guo Min acknowledged that approximately half of the Chinese students studying in Azerbaijan are enrolled at BSU. She underscored the significance of the Confucius Institute at BSU as a vital platform for advancing Chinese language and culture. The ambassador expressed the embassy's readiness to facilitate connections between BSU and Chinese universities.
Following her visit to the Confucius Institute at BSU, Ambassador Guo Min acquainted herself with its staff and activities. Subsequently, she met with Chinese students.
