American political scientist will give lectures at the Baku State University

The famous American political scientist, Director of the Walker Institute of International and Area Studies, professor Gordon B. Smith will give lectures to the students and masters of the International Relations and International Law Faculty of BSU. This event will be held within the program of celebrating the 50 anniversary of the Institute. Special events will be held throughout 2011 to mark the Walker Institute's long record of sponsoring scholarly conferences, lecture series, and promoting interdisciplinary research. Plans include a year-long series of lectures by distinguished scholars and public figures.
Founded in 1961 by Ambassador Richard Walker as the Institute of International Studies, the Walker Institute is the second oldest research institute focusing on international affairs at a public university in the United States. Director of the Walker Institute Gordon B. Smith is one of the leading specialists in the political processes in post-Soviet space, the author of numerous scientific publications and monographs.
