An event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the opening of Hebrew Department at the Oriental Studies Faculty was held at Baku State University.

In his speech, Abel Maharramov, academician, rector of Baku State University, noted that since 1993 till present day department prepared 67 bachelors and 13 masters, information department of Baku State University told.

32 undergraduate and 2 graduate students are currently studying at the department. In addition to Hebrew and literature history, geography, economy, culture, etc. of Israel are also conducted in the Department.

Teachers and students of department participate in summer courses in accordance with the cooperation agreements with Haifa, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv universities. Rector of Baku State University also reported that five graduates are enrolled in graduate studies in France and Turkey, 4 are candidates for a degree of ANAS institutes.

The Rector noted help of Israel embassy to Hebrew department. The embassy provided the faculty library with more than a thousand books and textbooks, holds a variety of meetings and competitions, for which the academician Abel Maharramov thanked Ambassador Rafael Harpaz.

In his speech, Ambassador Rafael Harpaz expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with Baku State University.
