Anhui University Honors the Memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev
As part of an official visit to Anhui Province, China, a delegation led by Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University (BSU), visited the Center for Azerbaijani Studies at Anhui University. On December 12, the Center organized an event dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event began with a minute of silence in honor of Heydar Aliyev’s memory, followed by a video presentation highlighting his life and legacy. The video underscored his pivotal role in strengthening Azerbaijan’s independence, establishing the foundations of statehood, shaping national ideology, and enhancing the country’s international standing.
Special emphasis was placed on the great leader’s attention to the development of Azerbaijani–Chinese relations and his significant contribution to fostering friendly ties between the two nations.
The Center for Azerbaijani Studies serves as a scientific and cultural platform aimed at introducing the Chinese public to Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage, history, and scientific potential. It also provides research opportunities for students and scholars specializing in Azerbaijani studies. During the visit, the BSU delegation donated a collection of books on Azerbaijan’s history, culture, and scientific achievements to the Center’s library.
The delegation was also briefed on the Center’s ongoing activities and current research projects. It was noted that the Center plays an important role in promoting Azerbaijani science and culture at the international level and in advancing Azerbaijani–Chinese academic and cultural cooperation.
Concluding the visit, Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized the importance of further expanding scientific and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and China, noting that new opportunities for joint projects, programs, and initiatives will be explored in the future.
