Associated Professor of Binghamton University visits History Department of BSU
Dr. Heather Diane DeHaan, Associated Professor at Binghamton University (US) has visited the History Department of BSU to meet its Dean and teaching stuff. The Dean of the Department Azad Aliyev informed teaching stuff about Dr. Heather D. DeHaan’s researching and teaching interests.
Dr. Heather D. DeHaan has studied how imperial power was both asserted and resisted through urban planning and development. Having recently published her first monograph, Stalinist City Planning: Professionals, Performance, and Power (University of Toronto Press, 2013), she has launched her next project, a study of neighborhood development in Baku, Azerbaijan from the late 1920s to the early 1970s. Her teaching interests include Russian and Soviet History, Central Asia and the Caucasus, and the twentieth-century urban experience in Eurasia.
While most of her writing targets scholars, she now has a blog in which she explores everyday urban life in Russia, Central Asia (Azerbaijan), and the USA.
