Audiovisual Council Holds Seminar for BSU Students
The Audiovisual Council conducted seminar for students of the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University (BSU), continuing its efforts to raise awareness about media regulation among future journalists.
Opening the event, Associate Professor Aynur Nasirova, Head of the Department of International Journalism and Information Policy, emphasized the importance of understanding the audiovisual media landscape and its regulatory framework. She noted that increasing students’ awareness in this field is essential for their future professional development.
Taleh Guliyev, Head of Sector at the Audiovisual Council, outlined the objectives of the seminar, focusing on the legal mechanisms governing audiovisual media. He also shared insights from the recent meeting of the Forum of Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities of the Member States of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, particularly regarding the protection of children in media services.
Chief Advisor of the Audiovisual Council, Aykhan Sadigli, delivered a comprehensive presentation titled "Protection of Children's Rights in the Media." He discussed the regulatory role of the Audiovisual Council and the Media Development Agency over audiovisual, print, and online media outlets. He also highlighted the significance of national legislation, including the laws “On the Rights of the Child” and “On the Protection of Children from Harmful Information,” in addressing these issues.
The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students engaged with the speakers and deepened their understanding of media regulation.
