Baku hosts 1st International Turkic World Conference on AI Ethics
1st International Turkic World Conference on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and Autumn School Opens at BSU.
The opening ceremony of the 1st International Turkic World Conference on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and the Autumn School, jointly organized by the International Turkic Academy and the Turkish Academy of Sciences, was held at Baku State University (BSU).
In his speech, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev highlighted the importance of a responsible and human-centered approach to the development of artificial intelligence technologies, noting that the ethical dimensions of AI are not only a scientific but also a moral priority. He announced the establishment of the Department of Ethics of Artificial Intelligence at BSU and proposed the creation of a Center for the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence of the Turkic World.
Shahin Mustafayev, President of the International Turkic Academy; Muzaffer Şeker, President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences; and Birol Akgün, Ambassador of Türkiye to Azerbaijan, underscored the significance of ethical, legal, and cultural aspects in AI development and the Turkic world’s role in shaping the global agenda in this field.
The conference, which will continue until October 31, brings together scholars, experts, and students from 10 countries.
