Baku State University and ANAS sign agreement on nanotechnology
The Baku State University (BSU) and the Institute of Radiation Problems under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) have signed a memorandum of understanding.
The memorandum was signed by the rector of BSU Abel Maharramov and the director of the Institute of Radiation Problems, the correspondent member of ANAS Adil Garibov. During the signing ceremony the rector of BSU academician Abel Maharramov made a statement. In his statement A.Maharramov spoke about the importance of the memorandum.
‘Transformation of the economic potential into the intellectual capital is one of the primary targets set by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijan has made serious steps towards this goal, and will soon become a nuclear state. From this point of view, the memorandum has a special significance for us’, he said. The correspondent member of ANAS Adil Garibov also made a statement on activities carried out by the Institute of radiation Problems in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
In his speech A. Garibov noted that from now on the institute will take advantage of BSU’ potential to achieve more results in the future. Let’s note that for the sides that signed it the memorandum creates an opportunity to conduct joint activities in such fields as the nuclear physics and technology, radiation physics, nuclear and radiation safety, nanotechnology, radioecology, radiobiology and other fields of mutual interest.
Cooperation will also take place in the fields of the scientific research, personnel training, technology exchange, organization of seminars and conferences, implementation of programs and projects, preparation of monographies, textbooks and other educational materials and tools.
