Ambassador Zoltan Hernyes, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Baku visited Baku State University. Acting Rector of Baku State University, Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov welcomed the guest and briefed him about the university. Noting that Baku State University is a modern science and education center that contributes greatly to innovation, creative and scientific research, F.Gurbanov added that the University cooperates with the world's leading universities and emphasized that the President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the University. F.Gurbanov also mentioned that the 100th anniversary of the University will be held by the UNESCO, ISESCO and several international associations of universities. Ambassador Zoltan Hernyes expressed his gratitude for the meeting and informed about the project on gender equality and media implemented by the Council of Europe Office in Baku. He emphasized the importance of the new course on “Gender equality and media freedom” developed under the project and the significance of its inclusion into the curriculum of the Journalism faculty. Noting his awareness about the project, F. Gurbanov highly appreciated the raising awareness activities in the area of gender equality and media freedom for media representatives in Azerbaijan organised by the CoE Office in Baku and stressed the importance of cooperation in this field. Several important issues were discussed at the meeting and it was decided to organize joint conferences and seminars on "Gender equality and media" by Baku State University and the Council of Europe Office in Baku.
