An event dedicated to the International Solidarity Day of Azerbaijanis of the world was held at Baku State University.

Rector of Baku State University, academician Abel Maharramov stressed the exceptional contributions of national leader Heydar Aliyev. He said this holiday was first declared on 16 December 1991 by Heydar Aliyev and nowadays  is celebrated not only in Azerbaijan but also in other countries.

The main idea of this holiday is the unity and solidarity of the Azerbaijanis from all over the world, respect of national and spiritual values, as well as belongingness to the historical homeland.
