A scientific seminar titled “International Transport Corridors and the Challenges of Regional Economic Security in Azerbaijan” was held at the Faculty of International Relations and Economics of Baku State University (BSU).

Associate Professor Gabil Aslanov of the Department of World Economy delivered a presentation, analyzing the increasing importance of international transport corridors in both global and regional economic systems. He emphasized Azerbaijan’s strategic geographic location at the crossroads of major routes, including the East–West and North–South transport corridors. According to him, this advantage not only enhances the country’s transit potential but also contributes significantly to regional economic security.

The seminar also addressed the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, diversification of international trade flows, and the management of geoeconomic risks. It was noted that the effective utilization of transport corridors supports the expansion of foreign economic relations, boosts export capacity, and strengthens overall economic stability.

In addition, participants highlighted opportunities for economic integration in the post-conflict period, the reopening of transport and communication links, and the role of regional projects in promoting peace. Strengthened economic interdependence was identified as a key factor for ensuring long-term regional stability.

The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion session, where participants exchanged views and answered questions.
