Department of Hydrometeorology of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University (BSU) has hosted a scientific seminar on a new method for cleaning oil waste.

PhD student of the Department of Environmental Chemistry Narmin Rakida made presentation entitled "Development of an environmentally efficient method for the treatment of wastewater from the oil industry".

Narmin Rakida shared information about the new method for cleaning oil waste developed by BSU scientists. ‘An effective method has been developed for cleaning up to 100% of a mixture of waste oil products and suspended solids using a specially defined amount of petroleum ether as an extractant, 5% Al2(SO4)3 salt solution as a coagulant, 5% H2SO4 acid as a flocculant and, if necessary, 5% NaHCO3 as a neutralizer’, stressed Narmin Rakida.
