The Baku State University (BSU) and the Polytechnic University of Tirana have signed a memorandum of cooperation as an Albanian delegation led by Speaker of the Parliament Ilir Meta visited BSU.

The memorandum was inked by BSU Rector Abel Maharramov and rector of the Polytechnic University of Tirana Jorgaq Kacani.
Speaking prior to the signing of the document, Mr. Maharramov said the government of Azerbaijan attached particular importance to developing education and science. “A large number of Azerbaijanis have been sent to leading foreign universities under the 2007-2015 state program for the education of Azerbaijani youth abroad.”
The rector highlighted the activities and foreign relations of the Baku State University.
Albanian Speaker Meta stressed the importance of his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. He said Albania was interested in expanding its relationship with Azerbaijan. Mr. Meta praised TAP project, saying it was of great importance to Albania. He hailed the signing of the memorandum between BSU and the Polytechnic University of Tirana, expressing hope it will be beneficial for both sides.
Rector of the Polytechnic University of Tirana Kacani highlighted the activities of the higher educational institution.
The ceremony also saw Mr. Metan presented with a diploma of the Honorary Doctor of the Baku State University.
