Baku State University Ranks in THE 2026 Subject Rankings

Times Higher Education (THE) has published its 2026 subject rankings of the world’s leading universities.

According to the results, Baku State University (BSU) is ranked in the 1001–1250 range in the fields of Physical Sciences (including physics, chemistry, geology, astronomy, and mathematics) and Engineering (chemical, geological, hydrogeological, geophysical, and other engineering disciplines). Overall, BSU demonstrated positive progress compared to the previous year. The university’s scores increased by 14.5 percent in Physical Sciences and by 13.9 percent in Engineering.

This growth reflects the measures taken to enhance research activities, strengthen academic potential, expand international scientific publications, and deepen cooperation with industry.

Notably, Azerbaijan is represented in the rankings for the first time by four universities across four different subject areas. This achievement highlights the growing international recognition and competitiveness of the country’s higher education system.
