BSU and FAO Discuss Prospects for Expanding Cooperation
A meeting with a delegation led by Mohammed Nasser Khayat, Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Azerbaijan, was held at Baku State University (BSU).
During the meeting, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev spoke about the university’s research potential in agricultural sciences, biology, and food security, as well as its laboratory facilities and experience in international projects. He emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with FAO in research, expert support, and specialist training.
The parties discussed opportunities for joint research, training on food safety and quality systems, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), the preparation of joint scientific publications, and the organization of conferences and other scientific events. It was also noted that FAO is ready to provide BSU staff with access to its information resources and involve university specialists in international projects.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed to further develop cooperation and prepare a joint action plan.
