Rector of Iğdır University (Türkiye) Ekrem Gürel paid an official visit to Baku State University (BSU).

Welcoming the guest, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev highlighted the university’s close cooperation with Turkic-speaking countries, including leading universities of brotherly Türkiye, and underscored the broad opportunities for partnership with Iğdır University. He emphasized that such collaboration is vital for advancing science in both Azerbaijan and Türkiye and for training internationally competitive specialists.

Rector Ekrem Gürel noted that Iğdır University, which primarily focuses on agricultural education, prioritizes cooperation with Azerbaijan. He described Iğdır as a “gateway to the Turkic world” and expressed his wish for more Azerbaijani students to study at Iğdır University.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in education, science and research, including student and faculty exchanges, joint projects, participation in international programs and the organization of joint scientific events.

At the end of the meeting, BSU and Iğdır University signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation.
