BSU and Izmir Institute of Technology Strengthen Collaboration
The Rector of Baku State University (BSU), Elchin Babayev, hosted a meeting with the Rector of the Izmir Institute of Technology (IYTE), Yusuf Baran, to discuss strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two universities.
Key topics of the meeting included expanding cooperation in joint research initiatives and enhancing student exchange programs.
Elchin Babayev highlighted that joint projects with IYTE would create new opportunities for students at both institutions and contribute significantly to the advancement of education and science in the region.
Yusuf Baran underscored the importance of collaboration with BSU, emphasizing its role in fostering scientific development in Azerbaijan and Türkiye and training globally competitive specialists.
The rectors reached a preliminary agreement on several initiatives, including:
• Establishing dual-degree programs in molecular biology and genetics, chemistry and chemical engineering, information technology, and applied mathematics.
• Training personnel in molecular biology using IYTE’s state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.
• Involving IYTE professors and lecturers in BSU projects.
• Developing and implementing plans for the shared use of the research infrastructure at both universities.
Following the meeting, Yusuf Baran toured BSU's Scientific Library and the ECO SPACE, further strengthening ties between the institutions.
