BSU Astrophysicists: Meteor Shower to Take Place on May 5-6

According to the Department of Astrophysics at the Faculty of Physics, Baku State University (BSU), the Eta Aquarid meteor shower is set to occur on May 5-6. The department describes the Eta Aquarid meteor shower as an above-average event. The Southern Hemisphere will witness an intense meteor shower, with up to 50 meteors per hour, while the Northern Hemisphere can expect around 30 meteors per hour.

The Eta Aquarid meteor shower is generated from the remnants of Halley's Comet and typically occurs from April 19 to May 28 each year. This year, it will reach its peak during the night of May 5 and the early morning of May 6. The meteor shower will commence in the sign of Aquarius and will be visible across the entire sky.
