BSU BStudents Gain Hands-On Experience Through Industrial Internship
Students from the Biology Department of Baku State University (BSU) are currently undergoing an industrial internship at leading scientific institutions, including the Laboratory, Expertise, and Certification Center of the Agricultural Services Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Vegetable Research Institute, the Institute of Botany, the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and the Institute of Zoology.
At the Laboratory, Expertise, and Certification Center, students observed experiments on nitrogen, protein, and phosphorus content in grain and legume crops, as well as sugar, acidity, and dry matter analysis in fruits and vegetables. They also learned how to assess seed quality indicators, soil macro- and microelements, and pH levels. Additionally, they practiced conducting tests and processing results.
During their time at the Vegetable Research Institute, students were introduced to laboratory equipment, plant cultivation techniques, field layouts, fertilizer analysis procedures, and phosphorus detection methods in soil.
At the Institute of Zoology, students explored laboratory operations and studied methodologies for analyzing invertebrates and vertebrates.
Meanwhile, at the Institute of Botany, students gained insights into the regional distribution of wild plants, geobotanical zoning, and vegetation classifications. They also learned herbarium preparation and maintenance techniques.
This internship provides students with valuable hands-on experience, equipping them with practical skills and knowledge essential for their future careers in biological sciences.
