BSU Celebrates 25 Years of Japanese Language and Literature
Baku State University (BSU) celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Japanese Language and Literature specialization at the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
BSU Vice-Rector Shahin Panakhov highlighted the university’s growing cooperation with Japanese universities and the department’s key role in promoting Japanese language, literature, culture, and related studies since 2000. Japanese Ambassador Katsuya Watanabe praised the department for its high-level teaching and emphasized that its graduates will contribute to the popularization of Japanese culture and strengthen Azerbaijani-Japanese relations.
Dean Aydan Khandan noted ongoing collaborations with Japanese universities and expressed hope that the number of specialists will continue to grow. Head of the Department of Far Eastern Languages and Literatures, Ogtay Jalilbeyli, presented the department’s 25-year history.
The anniversary event included student performances in Japanese, video greetings from alumni abroad, and concluded with Ambassador Watanabe presenting certificates to Dean Aydan Khandan and Head of the Department of Far Eastern Languages and Literature Ogtay Jalilbeyli.
