BSU Celebrates 70th Anniversary of ANAS Corresponding Member Namik Jalilov
Baku State University (BSU) held a republican scientific conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Namik Jalilov, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS), Director General of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), and Professor at BSU’s Department of Astrophysics.
The event opened with a video highlighting Jalilov’s life and achievements. Rector Elchin Babayev praised Jalilov as a distinguished BSU graduate and a leading figure in solar physics and space plasma physics. He noted the historic significance of BSU’s Astrophysics Department, established in 1975 by national leader Heydar Aliyev, which has trained many of Azerbaijan’s top scientists.
Jalilov received a Certificate of Honor from BSU for his contributions to science and education. The conference featured congratulatory messages and scientific presentations from prominent researchers and BSU faculty members.
In his closing remarks, Jalilov expressed gratitude to BSU’s leadership for organizing the celebration.
