BSU Concludes Sustainable Development Goals Week
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Week, organized by the Student Trade Union Committee (STU) of Baku State University (BSU), has officially concluded. The final event focused on Goal 10: Reducing Inequality.
Opening the session, Chairman of the STU Zohrab Javadzade highlighted the week’s key initiatives and emphasized the importance of addressing inequality both globally and locally.
Advisor to the Rector, Asiman Ilyasov, spoke about the university’s ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive academic environment. He stressed that reducing inequality is essential to achieving social justice and economic well-being.
Ramin Samedov, Head of BSU’s Department of Humanitarian Issues and Youth Policy, noted the relevance of the SDGs for youth, encouraging students to be active participants in sustainable development.
Social expert Elman Suleymanov illustrated the impact of inequality through real-life examples, stressing that physical limitations should never be barriers to personal achievement. He encouraged students to deepen their knowledge and personal growth through reading and scientific engagement.
Nigar Aghazade, founder of the “Support for Persons with Disabilities” Public Association, underscored the importance of inclusive attitudes toward vulnerable populations, particularly individuals with disabilities. She called for greater empathy, awareness, and action in support of equality.
