A national scientific-practical conference titled “Protecting Women’s Health: Interdisciplinary Approaches,” dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of renowned ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, was held at Baku Medical Plaza.

The event was jointly organized by Baku State University (BSU) and the “Women’s Health Support” Public Union, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and TƏBİB.

Opening the conference, BSU Biology Faculty Dean Afet Mammadova highlighted Zarifa Aliyeva’s contributions to medical science, her legacy in ophthalmology, and her lasting impact as a role model for society.

Speakers also included Gunay Ahmadova, Co-Chair of the “Women’s Health Support” Public Union, Ilkane Kerenterli, Deputy Chief Physician of Baku Medical Plaza, and Rovshan Khalilov, Head of the Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry at BSU.

The event featured a video presentation on Aliyeva’s life and continued with panel discussions. Participants emphasized that effective protection of women’s health requires interdisciplinary cooperation across fields such as gynecology, endocrinology, oncology, radiology, laboratory diagnostics, psychology, and biology, as well as greater awareness and regular medical check-ups.
