16/12/2025

A delegation led by Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University (BSU), visited the Industry–Education–Research Institute of Advanced Materials and Technology for Integrated Circuits and the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Anhui University, China.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to the academic programs, research infrastructure, and scientific potential of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, which prepares highly qualified specialists at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. The School includes departments specializing in metallic materials engineering, inorganic materials, materials physics and chemistry, and materials processing. Students receive comprehensive training in the chemistry, structure, processing, surface engineering, and properties of metallic and non-metallic materials. The School is equipped with advanced research, testing, and experimental laboratories, including key laboratories in metallurgy and surface engineering, and hosts national and regional research platforms. Its strong links with industry enable graduates to pursue successful careers in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, automotive manufacturing, energy, electronics, and advanced materials production.

The delegation also visited the Industry–Education–Research Institute of Advanced Materials and Technology for Integrated Circuits, which focuses on research and development in materials science and integrated circuit technologies. The Institute conducts advanced research in micro- and nanoprocessing, sample preparation, high-precision testing, surface control technologies, and the structural study of electronic and functional materials. These capabilities position the Institute as a high-level research base supporting both fundamental research and industrial applications. The Institute has achieved internationally recognized research results, published in leading scientific journals, and actively implements patents and industry-oriented research projects.

During discussions, the parties explored opportunities for launching joint undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, promoting faculty and researcher exchanges, implementing collaborative research projects, strengthening university–industry cooperation, establishing practical training bases, and organizing joint scientific forums. Particular attention was given to prospects for cooperation in the fields of advanced materials, semiconductor materials, electronic components, and clean energy materials.
