The QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2025, one of the most prestigious international events in higher education, is taking place in Seoul, South Korea, from November 4 to 6, 2025. The summit is organized by Korea University, which also serves as the event’s strategic partner.

A delegation led by Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University (BSU), is participating in the summit.

The event brings together around 180 speakers and more than 1,500 participants from universities, research institutions, and educational organizations across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Discussions focus on strengthening cooperation in higher education, implementing innovative teaching and research models, and enhancing the role of universities in global development.

The summit opened with remarks by Ben Souter, Senior Vice President of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), and Dong-Eun Kim, President of Korea University. The plenary session featured Ban Ki-moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, as the guest of honor, followed by an opening address from Dr. Kazoo Yano, CEO of Happiness Planet.

Throughout the summit, university leaders, scholars, and experts are exchanging views on the future of education, digital transformation, innovation, and new forms of international collaboration.

The BSU delegation is actively participating in the summit’s sessions and discussions to explore best practices in higher education, apply innovative approaches, and strengthen BSU’s international partnerships. The delegation is also familiarizing itself with the academic environment and infrastructure of Korea University.

Now in its 21st year, the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific has established itself as a leading platform for fostering cooperation and innovation in higher education. This year’s theme, “Inspiring Intergenerational Success: Developing Skills and the Research Environment,” emphasizes the importance of preparing future generations for success through education and research excellence.
