BSU Delegation Participates in the World Congress of the Chinese Language
Vice-Rectors of Baku State University (BSU) Huseyn Mammadov and Alish Agamirzayev, along with Wang Haoqiang, Director of the Confucius Institute at BSU, are taking part in the World Congress of the Chinese Language in Beijing.
The event brings together ministers, university leaders, and prominent scholars from countries where Chinese is taught. The congress will address topics such as strengthening international educational cooperation, exploring best practices in Chinese-language instruction, and developing joint innovation programs.
BSU places particular importance on Chinese-language education and cooperation with Chinese universities. Since 2004, the university has offered a major in Regional Studies focusing on China. In 2011, BSU, in partnership with Anhui University, established the Confucius Institute, which plays a key role in promoting the Chinese language and culture. The Institute also organizes the international “Chinese Bridge” language competition, the winner of which represents Azerbaijan in China.
Since 2022, the Faculty of Oriental Studies has offered a major in Chinese Philology. On December 8, 2023, BSU, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and Anhui University signed a trilateral agreement to establish a joint undergraduate program in “International Chinese Language Education.”
