A high-level delegation from Baku State University (BSU), led by Rector Elchin Babayev, visited Lahore University as part of its official trip to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the visit, Elchin Babayev met with Uwais Rauf, Chairman of the University Board, to explore avenues for enhancing academic collaboration between the two institutions. Discussions focused on expanding student and faculty exchange programs, launching joint innovation initiatives, and developing dual degree programs. Both parties emphasized the importance of fostering a strategic partnership in education and technology.

The dialogue continued with the participation of Muhammad Ashraf, Rector of Lahore University, along with university leadership, deans, and Muhammad Sharif, Advisor to the Director General of ICESCO. Key topics included the establishment of joint institutes, the introduction of collaborative academic programs, and other potential areas of cooperation.

Elchin Babayev provided insights into the history of BSU, its international collaborations, and notable academic and scientific achievements. He underscored BSU’s commitment to global partnerships and emphasized the significance of strengthening ties with Pakistani universities.

The BSU delegation toured Lahore University’s campus, gaining firsthand knowledge of its management structure, faculties, research facilities, hospital, and state-of-the-art laboratories and centers.

In a special session with faculty members and students, Babayev engaged in an open discussion on academic and research activities, exchanging ideas on potential collaborative efforts.

The visit culminated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Baku State University and Lahore University. This agreement sets the stage for expanded academic collaboration, joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, and the implementation of shared educational programs, marking a significant step toward a long-term partnership between the two institutions.
