BSU Discusses Use of AI in Dissertations
Baku State University (BSU) hosted an event on “Artificial Intelligence in Dissertations: Regulatory Limitations, Risks, and Academic Integrity.”
Farid Nagiyev highlighted that while digital technologies are advancing research, the misuse of AI may lead to academic fraud, raising concerns about plagiarism, copyright, and research originality.
Farida Rzazade, Azerbaijan representative of StrikePlagiarizm.com, discussed the challenges of detecting AI-generated content, noting that such detection remains probabilistic and requires improved control mechanisms.
Speakers emphasized the need for clear guidelines on AI use, mandatory disclosure, and stronger oversight systems. It was underlined that the goal is not to ban AI, but to integrate it responsibly while safeguarding academic integrity.
The event concluded with a Q&A session.
