The prestigious Shanghai Ranking has released its latest Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, recognizing leading universities worldwide.

For the first time, Baku State University (BSU) has been ranked in mathematics, securing a position in the 401–500 range. Notably, Azerbaijan is the only country from the South Caucasus represented in this category.

The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects evaluates over 1,900 universities from 96 countries across five broad areas and 55 specific subjects, including natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medicine, and social sciences. Universities are assessed based on five key criteria: world-class faculty, scientific achievements, high-quality research, research impact, and international collaboration.

BSU’s inclusion in this ranking highlights its growing academic influence and research excellence on the global stage.
