BSU Enters Top 700 Global Universities, Leads in the South Caucasus
Baku State University (BSU) has achieved a significant milestone by ranking 688th in the QS World University Rankings 2026, compiled by the global higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). This marks a remarkable leap from last year’s placement in the 951–1000 band and reinforces BSU’s leadership in higher education not only in Azerbaijan but across the entire South Caucasus region.
The 2026 edition of the QS rankings evaluated data from 8,467 universities across 105 countries, ultimately including only 1,501 institutions in the final global ranking.
This achievement underscores BSU’s growing reputation in the international academic landscape and reflects the university's continuous efforts to enhance its academic standards, research impact, and global engagement.
It is worth noting that the “Strategy for the Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026” sets a strategic goal of placing at least three national universities in the global top 800. BSU is proud to have already met this target and remains confident that other universities in Azerbaijan will also continue to rise in global rankings.
