Baku State University (BSU) has established the Academy of Excellence for Research, Development and Innovation to strengthen research coordination, improve the management of research infrastructure and foster a modern innovation ecosystem in line with international standards.

Building on the university’s existing Centre of Excellence for Research, Development and Innovation, the Academy will bring together research, experimental development and innovation activities on a unified platform. Its priorities include advancing scientific excellence, accelerating technological development, supporting innovative entrepreneurship and promoting the practical application and industrial transfer of research results.

The Academy will coordinate BSU’s research centres and laboratories in the natural and exact sciences, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration in fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computer science. This approach is expected to facilitate joint research projects, improve the use of laboratory facilities and strengthen cooperation among research teams.

The Academy will also include a Centre for International Grants and Projects, as well as a Technology Transfer Department established on the basis of the university’s existing Technology Transfer Sector.

The Centre for International Grants and Projects will support BSU researchers in securing international funding, participating in research programmes and consortia, and developing project preparation and management skills.

The Technology Transfer Department will focus on identifying, protecting and commercialising research results, technological solutions and intellectual property developed at BSU, while strengthening cooperation with industry and facilitating the transformation of scientific discoveries into practical applications, innovative products and technologies.
