BSU Explores History of Encyclopedia Publishing in Azerbaijan
A scientific seminar titled “History of Publishing Encyclopedias in Azerbaijan” was held at the Faculty of Information and Document Management of Baku State University (BSU).
Sevda Guliyeva, a lecturer from the Department of Editorial and Publishing, delivered a comprehensive report at the seminar.
Her presentation provided a chronological overview of the development of encyclopedia publishing in Azerbaijan, analyzing key historical stages and the evolution of content creation. The report also offered a scientific and theoretical assessment of various encyclopedias, examining design standards, linguistic and stylistic features, and editorial requirements.
Among the encyclopedias reviewed were significant publications such as the Kitabi-Dede Korkut Encyclopedia, the Karabakh Encyclopedia, the Encyclopedia of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, and the Mugham Encyclopedia.
The seminar also addressed issues related to the current state of encyclopedic publishing, including content and formatting standards, and the preparation of digital editions. The importance of such publications was highlighted in terms of international integration, fostering cooperation across platforms, and contributing to the development of the global information space.
