BSU Explores Resistance Mechanisms of Staphylococcus aureus
11/06/2025
A seminar titled “Staphylococcus aureus: A Serious Threat to Modern Medicine” was held at the Department of Biomedical Materials, Faculty of Biology, Baku State University (BSU).
Department lecturer Aygun Israilova highlighted that Staphylococcus aureus remains one of the most critical threats to global health due to its growing resistance to antibiotics. She noted that structural changes in the bacterial membrane contribute to resistance against potent drugs like daptomycin, complicating treatment efforts.
The seminar emphasized the urgent need for new antimicrobial strategies and underlined the importance of responsible antibiotic use and continuous epidemiological monitoring.
