The Faculty of Oriental Studies at Baku State University (BSU) comprises four departments—Arabic Philology, Middle Eastern Languages and Literature, Turkish Philology, and Far Eastern Languages and Literature—as well as one research laboratory.

Students study at least two Asian languages, one as their primary language and another as a secondary language. Each year, students have the opportunity to continue their studies at universities in Arab countries, Türkiye, Israel, Pakistan, Japan, China, and Korea.

At the undergraduate level, the Faculty offers three majors: Regional Studies (Asian Countries), Philology (Asian Languages and Literature), and Translation (Arabic and Persian).

Graduates of Regional Studies, specializing in Arab countries, Iran, Türkiye, Israel, Pakistan, Japan, China, or Korea, can pursue careers in government institutions, embassies, and international organizations.

Graduates of Philology, specializing in Arabic, Persian, or Turkish language and literature, can work as teachers and translators, as well as in government institutions.

Graduates of Translation, specializing in Arabic or Persian, can work primarily as translators and in international relations departments of government institutions.

Instruction at the Faculty is conducted in Azerbaijani and Russian.
