BSU geologists informed about the soil salinization of Samur-Shabran region

A scientific seminar entitled “Hydrogeological and meliorative conditions of irrigated lands of the Samur-Shabran region” was held at the Faculty of Geology of Baku State University.

Dean of the Faculty Mamoy Mansurov noted that the object of the study covers the territory from the north-eastern part of the Greater Caucasus Mountains to the Caspian Sea.

Gunay Huseynova, lecturer at the Department of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology made presentation on “Hydrogeological and meliorative conditions of irrigated lands of the Samur-Shabran region”. She stressed that the hydrogeological-reclamation state of the 15% of the irrigated lands of the Samur-Shabran region are in an unsatisfactory condition. She also informed about the soil salinization of Samur-Shabran region.

The seminar was followed by a round-table discussion.
