Fifteen BSU graduates were presented dual diplomas of European Law Masters Program in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between BSU and the University of Würzburg in Germany. The event was attended by rector of Baku State University, Elchin Babayev and Dean of Law Faculty of German Wurzburg University, Professor Eckhard Pache.

Rector Elchin Babayev highlighted the achievements in the field of science and education under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing the reforms in the field of higher education. Referring to “State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023” rector Elchin Babayev noted the importance of the dual diplomas of European Law Masters Program between  BSU and the University of Würzburg.

Noting a Memorandum on granting of double diplomas in Law to PhD students signed between Baku State University and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg rector Elchin Babayev  said that  the postgraduate degree program in the field of “Intellectual Property Rights” would be implemented in the near future according to a Memorandum signed between Baku State University and University Lyon 2.

Professor Ehard Pahen expressed confidence that the graduates of the program would contribute to the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany in different areas.
The European Law Masters Program started at BSU since September 2011. It helps to teach and prepare experts not only for practicing in Azerbaijan, but also for serving as legal experts in European Law in other countries of the region. The program was established in 2010 with the objective of training legal experts in the field of European Union Law. During 2010-2012 the program was offered only in English but since 2013 it is also offered in the German language. The program is a double-degree program run jointly with University of Wurzburg, Germany with support of DAAD.
