BSU Holds First Meeting with FUTURE17 SDG Challenge Participants
Baku State University (BSU) held its first meeting with students selected to participate in the FUTURE17 SDG Challenge programme.
The meeting was attended by Asiman Ilyasov, Advisor to the BSU Rector for Quality Assurance, project participants, and other representatives of the programme.
Speaking at the event, Asiman Ilyasov emphasized the importance of developing students’ entrepreneurial potential and creating opportunities for them to design solutions and projects addressing global challenges.
It was noted that international initiatives of this kind enable students to connect their academic knowledge with practical activities, work on projects aimed at addressing real-world social and environmental challenges, and develop essential skills such as teamwork and project management.
The meeting featured an exchange of views on the stages of programme implementation, the tasks assigned to participants, and the development of project ideas. Students presented their ideas, while their questions concerning the preparation and further development of their projects were addressed.
The FUTURE17 SDG Challenge is a joint initiative of QS, one of the world’s leading higher education and university ranking organizations, and the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. BSU is among the project’s partner institutions.
The initiative aims to support young people in developing innovative ideas and projects related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to create opportunities for implementing initiatives addressing social and environmental challenges.
As part of the programme, participants will develop their skills in innovative and creative thinking, teamwork, project management, and problem-solving, while receiving support in transforming their ideas into concrete projects.
