BSU Holds Master Class on Combating Human Trafficking
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology at Baku State University (BSU) hosted a master class on "Combating Human Trafficking," aimed at raising awareness and equipping students with knowledge on this critical issue.
The session was led by Elnara Aliyeva, a psychologist from the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. The event was organized within the framework of a memorandum of cooperation between the Social Services Agency and BSU.
During her presentation, Aliyeva provided insights into the definition of human trafficking victims and the strategies employed to combat trafficking both in Azerbaijan and globally. She also detailed the mechanisms of social work with victims, including psychological intervention programs designed to support their recovery.
The discussion featured practical case studies, highlighting the multidisciplinary approach needed to effectively address human trafficking. Legal, psychological, and social aspects were explored, along with information about shelters in Azerbaijan, rehabilitation and habilitation programs, and success stories of reintegration.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students engaged in discussions and had their questions answered.
