BSU Holds Roundtable on World Day for Decent Work

Baku State University (BSU) hosted a roundtable marking World Day for Decent Work on October 7, organized by the university’s Trade Union Committee.

The event focused on the importance of decent work, the protection of labour rights, safe and favourable working conditions, social justice and employment-related issues.

The roundtable featured Uzeyir Shafiev, Head of the Department of Social Work at BSU; Nermin Hasanli, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law; and Nezaket Karimova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology. The speakers highlighted the importance of decent work in people’s lives and its role in the socio-economic development of society, emphasizing that ensuring labour rights is a key condition for social well-being.

The discussion also addressed changes in the labour market, the protection of labour rights, support for youth employment and the development of modern employment relations.

It was noted that decent work goes beyond providing employment. It also encompasses safe and healthy working conditions, social protection, equal opportunities and the protection of workers’ rights.

The roundtable concluded with an exchange of views and an open discussion.
