BSU Hosts 1st Youth Forum on AI Ethics
Baku State University (BSU) has launched the 1st Youth Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, jointly organized with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4SIM), BSU Volunteers, the Azerbaijan Artificial Intelligence Platform and the Youth Organization of World Azerbaijanis.
Opening the event, BSU Vice-Rector Alish Agamirzayev stressed the rapid spread of AI across multiple sectors and the urgent need to address related ethical issues. He noted that BSU has established a Department of AI Ethics — the first such initiative in Azerbaijan — and will introduce a Master’s course on the subject this year with support from the International Turkic Academy.
Speakers from parliament, 4SIM and partner organizations highlighted AI’s misuse, its impact on jobs and the importance of skills development, legislation and public awareness. More than 1,600 students and 120 faculty at BSU have already benefited from the national AI and Data Science awareness program.
The forum concluded with panel discussions featuring experts and youth leaders.
