Baku State University (BSU) is hosting the 4th Republican Scientific Conference of PhD, Master’s students, and young researchers on the theme "Chemistry and Chemical Technology."

The event is jointly organized by the BSU Faculty of Chemistry and the M. Nagiyev Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry. It is dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the birth of Azerbaijan’s National Leader, Heydar Aliyev.

At the opening ceremony, BSU Vice-Rector Huseyn Mammadov emphasized that both BSU and the entire nation commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the great leader’s birth with deep respect and admiration. He highlighted Heydar Aliyev’s significant contributions to the development and modernization of Azerbaijan’s chemical industry and stressed the vital role of BSU’s Faculty of Chemistry in training the country’s chemists. Mammadov also spoke about the university’s scientific achievements, the indexing of research in international databases, and the introduction of new academic specializations.

Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Fuad Kerimli, reported that over 180 abstracts had been submitted to the conference. These contributions come from universities across Azerbaijan, research institutions under the Ministry of Science and Education, and international institutions from Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and the United Kingdom.

Academicians Dilgam Tagiev and Vagif Farzaliyev, along with Elshad Abdullayev, Vice-Rector of Sumgait State University, noted the importance of such scientific conferences in shaping the academic and research careers of young scholars.

The plenary session featured presentations by Ofelia Balayeva, Senior Lecturer at the BSU Department of High-Molecular Chemistry, and Elvin Akhmedov from the M. Nagiyev Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry.

The conference will continue its work across four thematic sections.
