BSU hosts a conference on the archaeological investigations of the ancient settlements Menteshtepe
History Faculty of Baku State University supported by French Embassy organized a conference on the archaeological investigations of the ancient settlements Menteshtepe. Prof. Dr. Bertille Lyonett, National Scientific Research Center of France made a presentation on the history and development of archaeological excavations in Menteshtepe (Tovuz district). Dr. Farhad Guliyev, Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of the Sciences of Azerbaijan said that mentioned archaeological investigations was a great contribution to the cooperation between the two countries. Dean of the History Faculty Azad Rzayev noted the importance of the event.
It should be noted the investigations had been carried out at the ancient settlement of Menteshtepe in Ashaghi Eyyublu district of Tovuz region, with the head of dr. Farhad Guliyev, Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of the Sciences of Azerbaijan and Prof. Dr. Bertille Lyonett, National Scientific Research Center of France since 2008. Large scale of archaeological investigations, as well as anthropological, paleobotanical and geomorphological analysis had been done for this settlement.
