BSU hosts a symposium "From Ata Gorgud to ashug traditions"
Baku State University hosted a symposium "From Ata Gorgud to ashug traditions", organized by Yunus Emre Institute.
The event was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ercan Ozoral, MP Hikmet Babaoglu, Chairman of Turkic language organization, Prof.Dr..Mustafa S.Kachalin, assistant to the rector of Bayburt University Suleyman Chigdem, as well as the rector of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University, Prof. Dr. Sebahattin Balcı, Head of the Research Institute “Korkut Ata” in Kazakhstan Shirinbek Koylibaev and other officials.
In his remarks, BSU rector Abel Maharramov stressed the fact that BSU made an enormous contribution to the study of the cultural heritage of the Turkish-speaking peoples, in particular “The Book of Dede Korkut”. In 1999, the 1300th anniversary of the “Book of Dede Korkut” was celebrated in Baku by personal initiative of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
It should be noted that in the framework of the symposium an agreement on cooperation was signed between BSU and Bayburt University (Turkey).
