Baku State University (BSU) hosted a Career Forum as part of the CareerPlus programme, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education and organised by the Union of Student Youth Organisations of Azerbaijan.

BSU Vice-Rector Alish Agamirzayev spoke about the challenges facing education, the impact of digital transformation and artificial intelligence on the education sector, and the importance of preparing students to meet labour market demands. He emphasised the need to align educational programmes with labour market requirements, increase employer involvement in curriculum development, and support students’ professional growth.

He noted that students should begin planning their careers from the early years of university, familiarise themselves with labour market expectations, and develop the knowledge and skills needed for their chosen professions. In this regard, the BSU Career and Alumni Relations Centre plays an important role in career planning and preparing students for employment.

Ayla Hasanova-Mammadova, Deputy Head of the Public Relations and Communications Department and Head of Sector at the Ministry of Science and Education, highlighted the role of education in youth development and in equipping young people with skills that meet the demands of the modern labour market. She stressed that initiatives of this kind help expand young people’s career opportunities and support their integration into the workforce.

Rashad Zeynalov, Chairman of the Union of Student Youth Organisations of Azerbaijan, spoke about projects aimed at supporting students’ personal and professional development. He described CareerPlus as an important platform for helping young people plan their careers, gain a better understanding of the labour market, and prepare for the employment process.

The forum featured a panel discussion entitled “First Job, Employer Expectations and Challenges Facing Young People.”

The event continued with a practical training session entitled “The Careers of the Future: AI, Personal Branding and Successful Job Search.” Participants received guidance on labour market requirements, effective CV writing, AI-assisted career planning, personal branding, self-presentation skills, employment simulations, and job interview techniques.
